Open Form Pavillion

This project's main goal was to create a pavilion in Msida that adapts to its environment. The design emphasizes warmth, sustainability, and structural expression while utilizing wood as the primary material to produce a useful and aesthetically pleasing room. In order to create a lightweight intervention that blends in with its surroundings, it investigates spatial form, materials, and user interaction. Maegan Tonna and I collaborated on the plans, visualizations, poster, and physical model for this project.

1

Technical Drawings

The plan, front elevation, and side elevation of the pavilion are all shown orthographically in the technical drawings. The spatial arrangement, structural components, and proportions of the design are accurately and clearly depicted in these drawings. The elevations show the pavilion's form, height, and architectural elements, while the plan shows how areas are arranged and how people move around. When combined, these drawings ensure that construction and design comprehension are clear by converting the conceptual design into accurate and concrete data.

2

Sketches

The pavilion's layout, seats, materials, and lighting are all explored in these sketches. To establish a cozy area for relaxing and socializing, several concepts were tried. Concrete and wood were used to blend strength and warmth, and lighting was planned to enhance the ambiance and draw attention to important details. The sketches show the design's steady evolution.

Poster

Using pictures, sketches, and material, the poster displays the finished pavilion design. It describes the seating arrangement, layout, and usage of the area. The design uses wood and concrete to create a cozy space for relaxing and socializing. The poster clearly summarized all of the project's key concept.

Visuals

The images highlight the interior spatial experience and show how the pavilion fits into its Msida surroundings. The building's strong shape, rhythm of openings, and link to the urban environment are highlighted in the exterior views, which depict the relationship between the building and its surroundings. The interior graphics, on the other hand, emphasize user interaction by highlighting the seating sections, cozy material, and cozy ambiance that are generated within the room. Plan-based images and perspective views are combined to show how movement, light, and enclosure combine to create a cozy space for relaxation and socialization.

Physical Model

Understanding the pavilion's form, layout, and materials is made easier by the actual model, which depicts it more realistically. It draws attention to the apertures, seating sections, and pedestrian flow. Additionally, the model illustrates how shadows and light interact with the design to create ambience. In general, it makes the project easier to see in three dimensions.
